They made all the necessary repairs to our wooden patio cover and did a wonderful prep job on the entire house. His painters were very professional and paid attention to the smallest detail. And they cleaned up everyday before leaving.

The description of work, explanation of quality, and expectations were carefully discussed in the bid process. In every case, Bill had the answers I wanted in a bid for high quality work. Bill is extremely knowledgeable and professional. We knew exactly what would be done and the quality to expect. The crew showed up on time and the prep work took twice as long as the painting which is exactly the way it should be. The workers knew what they were doing and they performed their work with exacting standards. Stucco was patched, sanding and scraping were precise. They were very careful with our property and did absolutely no damage. No short cuts were taken! Every day, the clean up made our home livable.

Chosen paint colors were applied to the house to make sure we liked what we chose. The crew was well-trained, polite, and took obvious pride in their work. No one on the crew was a slacker or a day worker. They worked long and hard and when asked if they were well-paid, said YES. “If we do a good job, we have a lot of work!”

For the final inspection, no problems were found anywhere. No drips, no dirt painted over, no over-sprays on windows, no globs. For a house built in 1960, this paint job corrected years of short-cuts and abuse. Old attachment screws that had been left in the walls and just painted over in the past were removed (with permission first), holes were patched, and now the walls are clean and like new. Every decision that had to be made was an improvement in past paint jobs.

This was a three day job of long days. When the house was finished, the clean up was as perfect as the paint job. By the time the crew (enough men to do the job in a reasonable amount of time) were finished with the clean up, there was no evidence that they had been here. No paint drips on anything around the house.

Now we will hire this company to do the interior of the house. I no longer dread the prospect of working with painters!

Other painters would just give me a number right then. I didn’t trust that they could really see the extent of the work that needed to be done. Bill got it. He knew the house was in bad shape and needed a ton of good, detailed prep work. He seemed to love the idea of turning our peeling paint and cracking stucco into a great looking house.

Scheduling the job was challenging because Bill is busy and in demand! Also, the weather was not cooperating and we were having lots of fall rain. When the job got started, there were 4 to 5 guys here every day for 6 days. They traveled to our house in Northridge from Ventura (an hour’s drive), and Bill himself came by most days. The prep for the painting was detailed and exactly what I thought his crew would do.

Bill also recommended a great carpenter, Adam Hamilton, who did some awesome and much appreciated work for us too! I can’t really explain how much it means to us that they were so detailed and careful with our house. The paint and the house looks really beautiful now.

Bill didn’t charge a penny over his original estimate and my interactions with him over the whole process was great. He and his crew accommodated our crazy schedules and were willing to work the weekend to get the job done.

Finally, just this morning, I could hear someone say as they were walking by, “Wow, look at that house. What a nice house!” Thanks Bill and your crew!

After the initial estimate from Pacific West Painting, we had the “gutter guy” remove the gutters, and Pacific West returned to pressure wash the house. Bill, the owner, alerted us to several areas where termite damage could be seen, and recommended we seek treatment for the termites prior to painting.

Prior to completion of the termite treatment, Bill returned to help us with the color choice. We had picked several colors that he sampled on the back wall, but after speaking with us, Bill recommended another color more in keeping with our house and the neighborhood. Our final color choice was very close to his recommendation, and we appreciated his advice.

Our only glitch came as we completed the termite repairs and locked in the color choice. Our initial start date with Pacific West was delayed by some of this activity, and due to scheduling issues, Bill asked if he could start later. This presented a problem: we had company coming for an extended three week stay and the new start date was not acceptable, requiring another 6 week or longer postponement.

Bill responded quickly and was able to reschedule the job in time to complete it prior to our company arriving. Once started, the job was completed in 3 1/2 days, with a crew at the house all day. As promised, the trim was scraped and sanded, patched where necessary, and spot primed as needed. The crew was meticulous about masking and keeping drips off of concrete and decking.

Our stucco is a very rough, knock-down style Spanish stucco with deep recesses, and the previous paint job had areas with the former color showing through if you looked closely enough. Bill had assured us his painters would not only spray two coats, but follow the second coat with a roller to ensure 100% coverage.

The quality of the work is outstanding. The trim looks new, with no evidence of the old color showing through even around the uneven roof tiles (a place where the prior paint job showed errors). Bill’s crew spent the time necessary to make sure every nook and cranny was painted.

The underside of the deck showed careful painting as well, with no marks or “overbrush” onto the rough deck boards above. The stucco had several areas where patching was required, and once painted, these areas “disappeared” into the rest of the stucco. The application of two coats, the second followed by a roller, covered the prior color perfectly. His crew made sure the coverage was good, and in one place, applied a third coat by hand where a large patched area had a slightly lighter color. Perfect!

Our security door, with perforated metal “screening”, had light rust and presented a challenge to paint. The door was removed, sanded, and sprayed in a very professional manner, so that none of the small perforated holes were clogged with paint. In addition, a metal railing on the porch was masked and sprayed for a very smooth, flawless finish.

On the final day, Bill did a complete walk-through with his crew to make sure everything was complete. While we had our “moment of panic” over scheduling, that was quickly resolved and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Our initial uncertainty about paying a bit more was relegated to the “definitely worth the extra cost” category, the reason we rated even “Price” at an “A”. We can recommend Pacific West Painting without hesitation.

Bill came to assess the job and as we toured the house I pointed out areas which I thought may not need painting. Bill corrected me on several of those areas and I agreed.

There were other places, which I pointed out that I had painted myself not long ago. Bill was gracious in NOT saying that I had done a lousy job, he just said, “Well, we’ll do what needs to be done.”

When the job was completed, I not only had a superior job of wood trim and stucco painting done, but the gates that I had painted myself were also done in the same high quality manner as the house, including the chimney which we had not even discussed.

I have now retired MY paint brushes and rollers and Bill will be hearing from when I need more painting done!
