Bill and his crew are the best!! They made all the necessary repairs to our wooden patio cover and did a wonderful prep job on the entire house. His painters were very professional and paid attention to the smallest detail. And they cleaned up everyday before leaving. A real pleasure working with them.

The house looks beautiful.

We had 3 estimates before choosing this company. We were most impressed with Bill Dumond – he was very thorough when he came out for the estimate,took his time and made some helpful suggestions. He also offered the best price for amount work we wanted done.

His crew arrived on time every day and worked very hard, especially at prep work which a lot of companies skimp on. Even our neighbors commented on how hard they worked on the outside prep work. We didn’t like the color we picked for two rooms which Bill repainted at a very fair price.

They did an excellent, high quality job and our house looks beautiful again! Bill was always pleasant and easy to work with which is very important to me. He was responsive to any concerns that came up and took care of them right away. He also gave us the Angies List Discount which helped with the price.

Great job, would definitely use them again.

We absolutely would recommend Bill and his team to anyone who wants their house painted. We are so thrilled with the way the exterior of our house and windows look! As perfectionists, it is satisfying to know that Pacific West Painting works the same way. The prep work involved pretty much set the expectations on the project…attention to details. The stucco work on the retaining wall looks fantastic! We have had so many compliments on our house.
Thanks Bill for the tips and encouragement on painting the wrought iron fence. I am so glad I did this prior to having the work done.

Typically I look forward to hiring a contractor as much as I look forward to getting a root canal. I was in this state of mind when I contacted Pacific West. But Bill’s quick professional response, timely estimate, attention to detail and courteous communication started me thinking maybe there are still some good guys left out there. That assumption was confirmed once the crew began working on our house. The amount of effort they put into the prep work and repair was inspiring. It was obvious this job was going to get done right. Once the painting began I was relaxed and confident that I would be pleased with the results. The final verdict: Perfection!

Tips for a Great Paint Job

A room looks wonderful with a fresh coat of paint. But if you have a “Love-Hate” relationship with painting, you’ll want to read our tips on getting a great finished product. You might even enjoy the project as much as the finished product!

Start Out Right

You’ll enjoy the job more if you get everything together at the start. Organize a tool station in the middle of the area you’ll be working in. Gather together your paint, brushes, rollers, hammers, screwdrivers, plastic bags, plastic wrap, rags, paint can opener, and drop cloths.

Plan a Day for Prep

Don’t try to get everything done in one day. Use the day before painting day to gather furniture in the center of the room, patch cracks and holes, put blue painter’s tape around doors and windows, and cover wall and ceiling light fixtures (light bulbs removed, of course!) with large plastic bags.

Clear the Decks

If you can, clear out all the furniture and accessories. Take everything off the walls. If you can’t move everything out, place the furniture and lamps in the middle of the room and cover them with a good drop cloth. Be sure that you tape the cloth around the furniture. Then put a second cover of plastic or old sheet over everything.

Remove All Hardware

It may seem easier to paint around door knobs or cabinet hinges, but unless you’re a professional, very experienced painter, you’re bound to get drips around. So carry around some zip top bags and remove all cabinet knobs and hinges, door knobs, light switch plates and outlet covers, and light fixtures. Place the pieces together in separate bags and clearly mark the contents and location (top left cabinet, bathroom door, etc) you took them from. This is a great time to clean the hardware! Put them back when you’re done painting.

Get Yourself Ready

No matter how hard you try, you’re bound to get drips (or more) of paint on whatever you’re wearing. So take off all jewelry. Reserve some old, but comfortable, clothes for your painting jobs. Slip-on shoes are easy to take off if you need to leave the room. You won’t have to worry about tracking drops of paint into other rooms. When you paint the ceiling, put a scarf, shower cap, or old baseball hat over your hair and some plastic over your eyeglasses.

Don’t Paint Over Problem Walls

If your walls have holes or cracks, fix them before you start with the paint. Any home center or paint store has knowledgeable personnel to guide you to the best products for the job. Wide cracks and large holes can be “bridged” with fiberglass tape, spackle will fill small holes and cracks, and texturizing products are available to match your existing wall finish.

Our house is finally a new color, after nearly 40 years! In the last post, we put up pictures of the painting progress. Today, it is done. Pacific West Painting did a FANTASTIC job and we are so happy to have gone with them! We used all of our original materials (door, garage, etc) and they sanded it down to the point where it looks brand new. We could not be happier. The only thing that would enhance it would be some landscaping, but that is a whole other issue.

It has become a rarity when you find a company who is honest, does what they say they will do, completes the job within the agreed upon time frame and whose work is at a master’s level. I frankly lucked out.

I went online in search of interior house painters and found the Pacific West painting website. The reviews that I read brought me to picking up the telephone and calling for an estimate.

The owner, Bill, was very knowledgeable, personable and patient. I had an unusual situation where we decided to move and had three weeks to make everything happen.

Bill was able to meet with us the very next day, provide solid feedback about colors and shades based on the lighting conditions in our apartment. He called with a reasonable estimate, informed me that he only uses the highest quality paint and assured me that our place would be finished in a couple of days.

His crew was on time both days, was very friendly and considerate of our neighbors ensuring that the noise level was at a minimum and were true professionals.

The painting exceeded my expectations and when they had finished, the place was so clean that you would not know they were even there. The entire experience was effortless on our part and we were quite happy that the apartment was move in ready when they left.

Great crew, great company, absolutely reliable and very reasonable in cost vs. value. You would be remiss if you did not at least give them the opportunity to show you what they have to offer.
