They made all the necessary repairs to our wooden patio cover and did a wonderful prep job on the entire house. His painters were very professional and paid attention to the smallest detail. And they cleaned up everyday before leaving.

The description of work, explanation of quality, and expectations were carefully discussed in the bid process. In every case, Bill had the answers I wanted in a bid for high quality work. Bill is extremely knowledgeable and professional. We knew exactly what would be done and the quality to expect. The crew showed up on time and the prep work took twice as long as the painting which is exactly the way it should be. The workers knew what they were doing and they performed their work with exacting standards. Stucco was patched, sanding and scraping were precise. They were very careful with our property and did absolutely no damage. No short cuts were taken! Every day, the clean up made our home livable.

Chosen paint colors were applied to the house to make sure we liked what we chose. The crew was well-trained, polite, and took obvious pride in their work. No one on the crew was a slacker or a day worker. They worked long and hard and when asked if they were well-paid, said YES. “If we do a good job, we have a lot of work!”

For the final inspection, no problems were found anywhere. No drips, no dirt painted over, no over-sprays on windows, no globs. For a house built in 1960, this paint job corrected years of short-cuts and abuse. Old attachment screws that had been left in the walls and just painted over in the past were removed (with permission first), holes were patched, and now the walls are clean and like new. Every decision that had to be made was an improvement in past paint jobs.

This was a three day job of long days. When the house was finished, the clean up was as perfect as the paint job. By the time the crew (enough men to do the job in a reasonable amount of time) were finished with the clean up, there was no evidence that they had been here. No paint drips on anything around the house.

Now we will hire this company to do the interior of the house. I no longer dread the prospect of working with painters!

Start Out Right

• You’ll enjoy the job more if you get everything together at the start. Organize a tool station in the middle of the area you’ll be working in. Gather together your paint, brushes, rollers, hammers, screwdrivers, plastic bags, plastic wrap, rags, paint can opener, and drop cloths.

Plan a Day for Prep

• Don’t try to get everything done in one day. Use the day before painting day to gather furniture in the center of the room, patch cracks and holes, put blue painter’s tape around doors and windows, and cover wall and ceiling light fixtures (light bulbs removed, of course!) with large plastic bags.

Clear the Decks

• If you can, clear out all the furniture and accessories. Take everything off the walls. If you can’t move everything out, place the furniture and lamps in the middle of the room and cover them with a good drop cloth. Be sure that you tape the cloth around the furniture. Then put a second cover of plastic or old sheet over everything.

Remove All Hardware

• It may seem easier to paint around door knobs or cabinet hinges, but unless you’re a professional, very experienced painter, you’re bound to get drips around. So carry around some zip top bags and remove all cabinet knobs and hinges, door knobs, light switch plates and outlet covers, and light fixtures. Place the pieces together in separate bags and clearly mark the contents and location (top left cabinet, bathroom door, etc) you took them from. This is a great time to clean the hardware! Put them back when you’re done painting.

Get Yourself Ready

• No matter how hard you try, you’re bound to get drips (or more) of paint on whatever you’re wearing. So take off all jewelry. Reserve some old, but comfortable, clothes for your painting jobs. Slip-on shoes are easy to take off if you need to leave the room. You won’t have to worry about tracking drops of paint into other rooms. When you paint the ceiling, put a scarf, shower cap, or old baseball hat over your hair and some plastic over your eyeglasses.

Don’t Paint Over Problem Walls

• If your walls have holes or cracks, fix them before you start with the paint. Any home center or paint store has knowledgeable personnel to guide you to the best products for the job. Wide cracks and large holes can be “bridged” with fiberglass tape, spackle will fill small holes and cracks, and texturizing products are available to match your existing wall finish.

I went online in search of interior house painters and found the Pacific West painting website. The reviews that I read brought me to picking up the telephone and calling for an estimate.

The owner, Bill, was very knowledgeable, personable and patient. I had an unusual situation where we decided to move and had three weeks to make everything happen.

Bill was able to meet with us the very next day, provide solid feedback about colors and shades based on the lighting conditions in our apartment. He called with a reasonable estimate, informed me that he only uses the highest quality paint and assured me that our place would be finished in a couple of days.

His crew was on time both days, was very friendly and considerate of our neighbors ensuring that the noise level was at a minimum and were true professionals.

The painting exceeded my expectations and when they had finished, the place was so clean that you would not know they were even there. The entire experience was effortless on our part and we were quite happy that the apartment was move in ready when they left.

Great crew, great company, absolutely reliable and very reasonable in cost vs. value. You would be remiss if you did not at least give them the opportunity to show you what they have to offer.
